Brooklands Driving Tests 1st February

Post by Ian Grace »

Looks like it was a great day with plenty of VMR members attending and competing, including Clive Hamilton-Gould, John Haine, David Rolfe and Paul Rogers.

I got some super pics from Phil Jones this morning which will go in M 153.

Any reports on the event would also be very useful.

John Haine reports:

"In the event my M Type OY 1548 completed the first five tests without penalty, but on the sixth test there was an ominous graunching noise from the rear when cornering. I immediately abandoned the test and drove slowly back to the car park and sought advice from several people with MG expertise. In view of the fact that the noise was only when cornering, they all agreed with my guess that the differential gears (i.e. not the crown wheel and pinion) had been damaged. We shall see! Anyway I managed to drive home OK after the event, freewheeling round corners, without too many awful noises."
