Beware chunky tyres! 450 Commander tyres on my saloon rub on the wheel arches! I use 350/400 Excelsiors on the tourer up front with old Dunlop block treads on the back. Neither car handles particularly well but I suspect the commanders are getting on a bit! The Excelsiors have gone a bit brown on the sidewalls.
if it's got wheels or chips - it'll cost you dear

I think I am right in saying that all OHC Minors and LWB SV Minors (family 8's & Coupes) should have 4.00 x 19 . All SV Minors except LWB should have 3.50 x 19. Except 1934 models which have 4.00 x 18.

According to July 09 VSCC Newsletter advert - 3.50 x 19 Blockleys are £35 and 4.00 x19 Blockleys are £69 , I assume +VAT.

Hi All, As I said in my original request, I know what is available and what they cost. It was hearing what you all had to say about various tyres and what you found them to be like. Never having a car with this small size tyre I was interested to hear how the various makes and sizes reacted on the Minor. Is a 3.00 to narrow and is a 4.50 to wide. Thanks for all your comments and help.Mike.

Talking of tyres, I am currently in contact with a WWII Lancaster pilot who tells me that he fitted motorbike tyres to his Minor during the war because car tyres were rationed.

Great photographs of this car with a Lancaster and the four bomber pilots who shared it will be the subject of an upcoming Magazine article.

Looking for tires for my £100 Minor. None of the links in this thread seems to work. I found this Dunlop 400 19:

And this 350 19:

Both rather expensive in Sweden - alternativ? Supplier i UK?

Philip,

I just received a mail from Blockley and they have still the price £44 for 350x19 and, even better, they have regular and weekly deliveries to Sweden. So four new tyres are soon delivered. But, as you can see from the attached image... I´m in no hurry...

Thanks for your help!

Jolly good Thomas, Blockley also sell inner tubes and rim tapes which you will need.
