Re: VMR Summer Rally 2009
Summary: I am pleased to report that Kate and I had a good time in VX4590 over the w/e in spite of the rain which fell in various quantities all day Saturday. The social side was particularly good in spite of the disappointing turn out. (Ronald and Heather – you in particular were missed by us!) We ...

Re: VMR Summer Rally 2009
Hi Ian
Our tickets also arrived this morning – thanks for them and for going ahead with the organisation of the rally in spite of the stressful problem at home. We hope things get better very soon for you both and will be thinking of you at the weekend.
Best wishes Ken and Kate

Halbe – I have a set of old stock unused Ferodo brake linings for a Minor and the lining thickness is 5mm.

Re: Just an idea
I have read your VMR and PWMN Forum postings on rear axle repairs and caught up with your rear axle problems and I sympathise! The general rule I follow with final drives or ‘diffs’ is to leave well alone if all looks well. It is notoriously tricky to set used crown wheel and pinions up again after ...

Re: Finishishing wheels
I would advise that Robin contacts a wire wheel specialist to see what they use. The modern method appears to be powder coating. The advantage of this is that the powder penetrates to all exposed areas due to the electrical set up. The quality of finish does vary from smooth to an orange peel effect...

Paul Beck took over The Commplete automobilist some time ago but he keeps both names going from the same address: Crosswinds Happisburgh Norwich NR12 0RX Tel 01692 650084 or 650455. http://www.vintagesupplies.com and http://www.completeautomobilist.com. It is also worth looking at Stafford Vehicle C...

Re: VG2007
Halbe I just thought I would let you know that I find your updates very interesting and worthwhile. As for the welding - I was only passing on advice based on the inherent strength remaining around the corroded areas. I am sure that the work was done to a very high standard. I look forward to the ne...

Great news: I am pleased that things are looking up after a difficult period. Good luck to you and Jayne - and to William and Amanda wherever they may be now...!

It is worth investigating the use and availabliity of suitable halogen bulbs as Trevor Wilkinson impressed us all with his 34 Minor headlights - in daylight - at the VMR rally when excersing his car on Thorpe Abbis runway. He has been using them for a long time.

Re: Whatever happened to the Maltby Fabric Saloon?
It would be wonderful if you decide to get this remakable car Alister! I think it is a bargain and I will watch this space after the rally and our brief holiday in Norfolk with great anticipation and interest. Good luck with the decsion making process!

Re: VG2007
The pictures that you are posting here are most welcome Halbe. The chassis wasting appears to be such that no welding is necessary as there will be sufficient strength from the remaining steel secton. If you are still worried then the only area to touch is that on the corner behind the dumb iron sho...
Re: petrol
I use unleaded petrol with Castrol Valvemaster Plus additive (rather than the standard one which I tried initially). I have experienced what I think is knocking or pinking on full advance since the loss of lead. This may be due to the chemistry of the modern petrol or the fact that my engine is tire...
