Re: Alloy con rods.
Sam, They are heavy brass or bronze shells which are factory white metalled. I have a set of four new 40 thou undersize (crank pin) shells but the rods have damaged locating pins for the sheels and the caps may have been filed.
Re: KR 5670
I think that I may be able to throw some light on this car. In Tubbs profile book on Wolseley Hornets it says that the earliest Hornets had the SWB Minor fabric body and to distinguish them from the Minor the top half of the body was cream with the bottom half black. As far as I can determine no fab...

Re: Alloy con rods.
I am pretty sure that they are alloy as if you look at the Remax and Brivec parts list you will find that the small end clamp bolts are longer to suit the alloy rods. Also I believe that the gudgeon pins in the Hornets are a different diameter, one being imperial and the other metric. Would you plea...

Re: Alloy con rods.
OHV Minor engines from No U35392 to 1933 used alloy rods. Reference Remax part No MM 171/309 and Brivec part No EB 11/309 lists the bearing shells and also the longer con rob bolts. I have a set of + 40 thou shells and four substandard rods.

Re: Hartford dampers
I have checked the Hartfords on my Jensen and they are 6.5" front and 8.5" rear centre of mounting pivot to centre of adjusting nut measured quickly with a tape measure on the car - not that easy.

Re: Electric fan?
Ian,
Give the radiator a thorough flushing using a flushing agent and when finally filling add antifreeze which raises the boiling point of water.

Re: Spring 2011 pub meets
The food was good at the Hatchgate last time but is believed to have changed hands quite recently. Someone I know went there quite recently and gave an unfavourable report. We have therefore decided to go somewhere else with other Morris owners. Hope I did not give Ian the the wrong impression about...

Re: Steering drop arm
Having just looked at the picture on the Prewar Minor site have you considered moving the steering rod to the underside of the nearside steering arm. That should give you a little more clearance under the filter. Have you got the right thickness front and rear engine mountings? Library computer time...

Re: Steering drop arm
I think that the M Type has the steering column fitted at a shallower rake (angle) than the Minor which would make the steering drop arm move forward and with it the steering arm and thus clearing the oil filter. On my Jensen Minor I found that the steering drop arm was touching the track rod and we...

Re: Fabric Couplings
Good move Colin. I also got a quote from them when they started advertising in the automobile and thought about doing the same thing. Perhaps the time has now come to set up a Minor spares section as many other registers do. If we do this it should be done together with the Prewar Minor lot. All com...
