Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
In fact my Drive-it day experience uncovered a couple of quite niggling faults. The exhaust came adrift between front pipe and silencer, the cooling fan bearing seized yet again, there was a loud and persistent rattle from the NS door and there was a violent vibration over about 35mph which made dri...

Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
Reading my last post I find it incredible that the work on the suspension was only finished yestwerday in time for drive-it day today. This was mostly due to holidays and sickness for my friend making hte drill jig required to bore out the chassis eyes for the springs. So I now have complete new rea...

Re: Drive It Day, Sunday 24th April
We hope to join the "Stilton Run" again this year with other MR friends from Uppingham in Leicestershire to Stilton in Cambridgeshire. Last year we had to pull out due to the massive oil leak we suffered. That is now corrected and providing I get the car back together in time (rebuilt rear...

Re: Flywheel puller
This looks very interestng, but I have a couple of comments. The puller appears to be shown attached to a flywheel with the centre bearing housing removed. As I remember this job, the puller is attached by nuts onto the bearing housing bolts that locate through the flywheel from the rear. A degree o...

Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
UF 7090 is definitely off the road at the moment and having all kinds of bits fixed. The main repair is to the rear suspension. The springs went off to Brost Forge today and tomorrow I will need to remove the rear wings in order to get at the chassis to bore out and bush the shackle points. Whilst t...

Re: Summer Rally and Pre-War Prescott 2016
Thanks Ian this all looks good and I will direct my friends to this web page. However, unless either I or my system is odd there seems to be some issues with the on-line booking form. It would be useful if the space around the check boxes was used to provide some explanation. It not entirely clear w...

Re: Summer Rally and Pre-War Prescott 2016
Hi Ian, I am sure that you are busy as Christmas approaches, but I was wondering how preparations for PWP are progressing. I have a bunch of Morris Register members interested in attending (not all Morris eights either) and would like to be in a position to give them some news. Very best wishes for ...

Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
Ian, the Victors must have been a sight indeed. We also saw the Nimrod that they have at Bruntingthorpe (you probably know about it), although that was not available to view. Just so many interesting aircraft, including a Shakleton in the open and without tail or engines and lookikng very sad. When ...

Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
We had another good day today. We joined a Morris Register drive to the Bruntingthorpe Air Museum followed by lunch at the Cock Inn at Peatling Magna. It was good to see so many interesting aircraft and many in working order although not allowed to actually fly. We were able to enter the 'Super Gupp...

No excuse for a diary clash in 2016 -I'll fix it in the diary now.

Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
Indeed Ian. I have looked at the MOT certificates supplied with the car and it appears that since the rebuild in 2008 it had only done about 1200 miles when I bought it in 2013 and just 160 miles in total in the two years immediately before my purchase. So some of the 'road sorting' was almost certa...

Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
Quite a lot has happened since the PWMN rally. We joined a MR trip to Barnesdale Gardens and Wicksteed Park for what turned out to be a difficult weekend. Barnesdale was washed out and overnight the car was damaged by drunken revellers who perhaps sat on a front wing and bent it. The 'Wicksteed at W...

Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
Ian, I wish you the best of luck with the VMR Prescott rally. I'm sure it will be a great success again. I'm sorry not to be there, but I will be making my own 'rally' with my friend and his 1927 Oxford tourer the weekend before. We will have a little jaunt around the north Northamptonshire villages...

Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
Done it again and missed the pictures.
Here are some more.
And the Morris 8 engine was used to drive the auxiliary systems on some British tanks so these pictures are not entirely 'off message'!
