Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
After another new set of D16 Plugs, a new condenser and loads of new carb bits, including a Jet and needle, the car not only managed to get up the hill, I managed to get it into second gear! If I had more confidence in the brakes I might have attempted third gear. I had balanced the brake cables but...

MU 3842 -- today, a Black 4 door saloon outside of Canal Garage in Boroughbridge, North Yorks. Looked a very nice, original car. I managed to have a look at the door handles, door buffers, the sliding roof and some interior detail. The door opened/closed/clicked very nicely! - the brake drums had b...

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
Update: an on-site support visit from PeterB resulted in a working ignition warning light and dash lamp. Without the support offered of this and the PWM community I would not have made much progress with my car; for a community to throw in personalised on-site support is pretty impressive! dash fitt...

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
Managed to make a roof lining + fit the glass + rear seats. A few wrinkles to sort out another day! Spent a lot of time extending the seat runners for the Driver's seat so that I can fit in the car and have some chance of being able to operating the controls. Back to grappling with the electrics tom...

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
I knew that old mahogany front door would come in handy sometime! - could not find any images to help me to design the rear frames so came up with this arrangement. I assume that when I can find some headlining, that it will fit behind the framing that I have made. Will just need to work out how to ...

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
Thanks Ian, Halbe - at the exciting stage; will the things that I have rebuilt work? will the things that I have not been inside work? (gearbox/diff). Anyone know how these electric wipers are wired and operate? from this Vintage Car Parts photo, it looks like the positive supply might go to the sid...

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
Electrickery makes ones brain hurt! - gave up and fitted the bonnet and rear wings. Having a blitz this week to see if I can get it to the drive-it stage! bonnet and wings fitted.jpg rear wings fitted.jpg Now back to the Questions: which of the two 'eyes' on the brake pedal should the linkage to the...

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
Peter, the quality of your photos must have John Haynes a bit worried! Your switch makes sense; mine must be off a supa-dupa, go-faster vehicle or missing a lot of bits! Have just checked again, there is electrical continuity between the three Brass Posts/contacts in the 'Dip' section and the three ...

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
Hi Ian - amazed that such a simple switch is presenting me with so many problems; must be old age! - the wiring diagram makes sense as does your explaination. But when I test for continuity between the '12 O'clock' contact (wiring diagram) {Black wire = dipped fillament} and the '2 O'clock' {Horn ea...

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
I think I must have got a bit confused with this switch, it can only be the Dip Switch. The button on the end that I thought was the horn msut be a temporary Dip? Will need to try to find the horn switch that I have somewhere that fits to the steering column bracket.

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
Again, Thank you Peter - off to Middlesbrough now, will be able to use your photo + info to make the contact for the Ignition Warning light this afternoon and have another go at F1 + F2. It is the Horn Push switch and Dip Switch that I am still unsure about. There are only three terminals that I can...

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
now while I am picking everyone's electrical brains, the wiring diagram shows a dotted line linking the F1 and F2 terminals on the PLC. I assume that means there is an internal connection. If so why is there an F2 terminal? should something be connected to it?

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
Thanks Peter, you have saved the day once more! - I think that I can sort out the Dash light from your superb photos. Am still stuck with the ignition light. I gather from another thread that it should have a 2.5 Volt - 0.5 Watt Bulb giving a total resistance (when the bulb is warmed up of, {I will ...

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
Started to think about wiring things up. A few electrical questions; the photo below shows the back of the ignition warning light and the Dash lamp. I think both lamps have a connection missing. Should the ignition bulb holder have a 'loose' wire through the centre hole, with a soldered washer on th...
