Re: Step plate or...
Sorry if I was a bit diffuse. The arrow in this photo point out what I´m referring to. Made of wood I suppose and some kind of frame made in steel or alloy perhaps. Need a close look at the frame and corners. Was the "plate" covered with a rubber carpet, if so I would appreciate a picture ...

Thank you Philip. I´ll check this...plj wrote:Thomas,
A chap called Brian, UK phone no. 01782 515802 has been advertising a s.v. engine dismantled for reconditioning and various other minor parts. Could be worth a phone call (he doesn't seem to have an e-mail address).
Regards,

Step plate or...
I´m not quite sure that I use the correct term but in my world "step plate" is the plate under the door and between the front and rear wing. So... these step plates is missing on my Minor SV but i think these are rather easy to construct.
Or am I too optimistic?

Re: SV2612 - a restoration project in Sweden
No engine yet It seems hard to find a engine. I may have a gearbox though and a prop shaft is in pipeline. And a radiator is also located - so with some luck these parts can be deleted from my "wish list". The gearbox probably needs to be rebuild but that doesn't frighten me. But my big p...

Re: SV2612 - a restoration project in Sweden
Wish list Parallel struggle with the restoring of wheels, hangers a.s.o. I´m spending a lot of time searching parts. My wish list looks like this. I´ve excluded parts that I can find at suppliers as Ian Harris: - Radiator (with or without surrond) complete with cap - Engine (restored or useable ord...

Re: SV2612 - a restoration project in Sweden
King pin bushes reamed The new king pins and swivel bushes has arrived from Ian Harris. And the thinking starts :D How to remove the old bushes? How to press the new ones in? And how to ream the bushes to a perfect fit for the king pins? Well, my local expert in machine works has to be consulted. A...

Re: SV2612 - a restoration project in Sweden
Spring shackles badly worn You kan clearly see the “groves” in the fixture. I intend to fill it out with weld and then grind it down to a smooth surface. I have seen that it’s possible to buy new ones but with som simple welding and grinding they will become better than new (I hope!). The sping sha...

Re: Stub axle & king pins
With the thrust washer in place - what tolerance between the swivel and front axle is recommend? I ask because I have to grind the washer to fit - the new ones are a too thick.

Re: Rear wheel bearings.
I have followed this discussion with great interest. Can´t help wonder - what´s the problem with some oil inside a tube? Isn´t the paper seal between the hub and flange together with a sealed bearing enough? And has the grease nipple any function at all if I use a sealed bearing?

Re: SV engine parts
Ian, Giving up! Of course not! I´m just kidding. You see, I have a unique chance to own the only SV Minor 100£ in Sweden. Perhaps in hole of Scandinavia. That is a challenge! It´s just that I now realize, that this change to a non original engine/gearbox leaves me with a lot of missing parts (beside...

SV engine parts
Well, I have som ugly feelings about the present engine in my SV 100£ . Why? Not because it´s a SV - no no! But because it´s a side valve made in Germany by Ford and was implemented by former owner in the car in the late 60th. The original engine is gone - for ever I´m afraid. So, I'm looking...
