Re: MG M Type or What ?
This looks more like one of the Cheney/Holden Minor Sports like the one in this very nicely and optermistically penned drawing
Re: OU 6930
Chris, 6 years thats positively ages, I tend to get a car sorted and running well then loose interest and sell it for another project, on average about 3 years. Mind you I am keeping things longer as I get older! Your MOT man needs to work the computer differently, DF's MOT on the 28th June 2008 say...

Re: Market Flood
I was talking to a friend in Ireland last night who tells of a sv Minor 1933 2 seater that has been for sale for 6 months or more, now at around £3,500. I know of another 1932 2 seater which may come on the market soon. There does seem to be a link between advertised price and length of time on the ...

Re: Bucket seats
If Toby's are no good I have some from an Austin 10(?) but they need recovering. They are more upright than the ones in a Minor and don't have a folding back.

Re: Market Flood
I would agree with Chris's comment about Austin 7's being used virously, but I don't think this can be placed at the VSCC's door. There are still at least four ohc saloons for sale, all VSCC eligible, just about the cheapest vintage car you can get and usable in a range of VSCC events both light car...

Market Flood
So 15 Minors for sale and that the ones we know about, pretty much a flood! A number of these cars have been for sale for a good while, and whilst we can laugh at some of the prices some are in turn pretty good value. There are also a large number of Morris 8's for sale, at quite high prices but aga...

Re: Halfshaft flanges!
Toby, There should be a paper gasket between the two sections of the hub, failure of this as Clive said will result in oil/grease on the brake shoes. Again like Clive I use Red gasket sealer. You can get sealed bearings these days which help reduce the amounts of oil moving around but if your bearin...

Re: Odd things about the earliest OHC engines
The early cylinder heads had the oil pipe coming out of the side of the oil drain casting at the front, this was subsequently moved to the under side of the casting.

Re: Test your car knowledge
I think this is much older than you are saying. All steel bodies were quite common in America in the late twenties. Pressed Steel were set up by a William Morris in collaboration with Dodge(?) following his trip to the States to look at production methods. The Ford Model A has an almost completly st...

Re: Prop shafts
Following on from some of the comments in the crownwheel and pinion thread, should we be trying to shorten the propshafts if we use the later slightly longer pinions. I had thought that DF had an original ratio but noticed yesterday that there is a spacer in between the pinion housing and the front ...

Re: Exhaust.....
I found a chap local to me who makes exhausts - DF sports a nice new non-rattling system. I opted for the larger pipe size as this is what was on DF before but it is easy enough to change to the smaller pipes. I put the a picture of the old silencer here for interest, I understand that it is not an ...

Re: 1930 MG M Type on EBay
The prices are all rather "MG" inflated, starting at £2.5k and think of the rebuild cost - a Minor is much better value, you could probably get a running ohc Minor saloon for that much!

Re: Derrington Manifolds
Hi Sam, Wasn't the M type Double Twelve fitted with a down draft SU, this manifold would presumably be quite similar. The McEvoy 70's also had this fitment, Ian will know far more. There have been serveral Derrington pictures in the VMR mag over the years, and I recall some chap trying to get intere...
