Re: Which Spark Plug.

I'm running on Lodge CB 3 unfortunately no longer made, the KLG was supposed to be the equivelant but it's heat range is not the same. Before that I was using 14mm plugs with thread converters, ran OK but didn't look right.

Re: Which Spark Plug.

I tried a set of KLG ML 50 in my ,34 Minor and found them to be unsuitable, they ran much too hot under load, climbing a long hill, which caused the mixture to ignite during intake with the resultant backfiring through the carb.
Will be very interested to hear how you find them.

Re: Identifying gearboxes

The only synchro box I have seen was almost identical to the crash box with the same-ish alloy casing :?

Re: No compression

I assume there was plenty of oil used in the bores on asembly, might be worth removing the spark plugs and pumping some oil into each bore and see what that does. 8)

The thrust side of the engine would be offside or drivers side.

Re: 3-Speed Gearbox Overhaul

Also worth checking the condition and fit of the pin in the housing that acts as a pivot and stops the lever from turning in the housing. On my 4spd box they were so bad it was like stirring Christmas pudding.

Re: S.V. block

This is the early type block that had a brass tap in this position for draining the coolant from here as well as the radiator tap.

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon

From memory it is almost impossible as the cover has to come a long way forward to clear the studs. The amount the engine needed to be raised was very difficult to achieve, ( I think it involved more force than I was comfortable with, but having got so far-------- you know how it is) I wouldn't try ...

Re: Brake bodges

I know that for Au***n 7 brake shoes replacement "saddle" ends are available, so it would appear normal to tackle the problem here.

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon

It could also be affected by the brake lining material, the brakes on my '34 two seater (hydraulic) were allways below par till I fitted a set of different linings which really made a big difference.

Re: KR 5670

When I bought my Minor it had an almost new "Beetle" battery fitted, it gave good service and only started to show signs of weakening after thirteen years. :D
