Re:JV 291/MG1930

Must get some Plus-fours to keep the turn-up's out of the oil during maintenance, does one use spats, gaiters or long hairy socks as an accessory?

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon

John's springs certainly look like M8 but I believe the 8 springs were longer, I recently bought some (allegedly) Minor springs but they don't seem to conform to anything although they do "look" Morris! I will try and get them out tomorrow and photograph and measure.

Re: Worn road spring eye - solutions?

I think for steel bushes you would have to have them made, bronze bushes from stock can be had from www.atlasbronze.com

Re: SV2612 - a restoration projekt in Sweden

Thomas, If you look at the top of the page you will see a search box, enter brakes (note the correct spelling) press search, and you will come up with 22 pages of brake references, if you then click on the highlighted word in each post it gives you the full text. Make sure you have plenty of time!! ...

Looks as though it's fitted with a Series 2 Morris 8 type luggage rack.

Re: Were can I find king pin to a 1931 SV?

Not sure whether my brakes are sorted yet as I've gone from what was supposed to be a "rolling restoration" to a full blown job. Fortunately I have managed to buy an interesting running Minor and have promised myself not to touch it apart from normal maintenance.

Re: Were can I find king pin to a 1931 SV?

Slightly different to mine, my pics unfortunately only show the cable and backplate attachment in a "stripped" state but you should be able to get the idea.

Philip

Sorry my incompetence with these photos has ended up with the important bits missing, perhaps Ian can sort them.

Re: Were can I find king pin to a 1931 SV?

Thomas, The Bowden cable uses the same operating lever from the cross-shaft, the outer casing is located to the chassis just before the site of the original pulley wheel, the other end of the casing is located by a bracket fixed to the brake backplate (two holes need drilling for this) the inner cab...

Re: Were can I find king pin to a 1931 SV?

Thomas, Just a thought, but unless you are committed to originality why not convert your front brakes to Bowden cables? Does away with the pulleys and is an easier system to maintain. If you do want to keep the pulley system I might have some bits that came with a box of spares I bought a while ago....

Ian,
Re the "small ballbearing", some clip-on type grease nipples used to have a spring loaded ball to keep dirt out and grease in, could it be one of these?

Is the seat back the same as the £100 2-seater. I have both paper and card patterns if any use.

Have a good journey Ian, look forward to seeing you tomorrow. I have remembered your clutch/brake shaft but haven't had time to take pics of the 2 seater.
Sheila and I have booked to eat at The Cock at 7.30.
