Re: MU3485
I'm old fashioned and use Straight 30, but I know others use 20/50. Just avoid Hypoid oils which eat any bronzed in the bearings.
Re: MU3485
So your fabric saloon is a 1931 season model (chassis M32249) and as such has the 'leather grain' steel bonnet which was also fitted to the fabric-bodied 2-seater which was only produced for the 1931 season. All the earlier fabric saloons had plain bonnets, like the steel saloons, tourers and vans. ...
Re: MU3485
Another thought. While servicing, drain the gearbox and put in straight 140 gear oil. It does make a big difference and makes gear changing easier. Use the same in the back axle, but don't fill the axle up to the brim of the filler hole. It is unnecessary, and too high an oil level will encourage oi...
Re: MU3485
Hi Frank, and welcome to the forum. Re the front engine mounts, it sounds like perhaps the rubber bushes under the engine bearer have compressed - a common problem solved with new bushes. I've had starter problems in the past, which were never the fault of the starter motor, but a poor earth return ...

Re: NV 2803 - 1933 McEvoy Special
So I decided to clean up the chassis frame myself, rather than having it blasted. It was a LOT more work, but gave me the chance to closely inspect every inch of it for damage or potential issues - there were none. There is slight wear in the spring hangers, but nothing that merits boring and bushin...

Re: Summer Rally and Pre-War Prescott 2023
Two more recent Minor entries - Alistair Bond with his Semi-sports IA 9142 and Stuart Cooke with his McEvoy prototype RC 300. Also a couple more recent M Type entries from Mark Smith and Roger Payn, plus Roger Burnett's Sportsman's Coupe, bring the M entry to six. The Old Bull landlord Joe Reed is a...

Re: Spring pub meet, The Old Bull, Inkberrow, Sunday 30th April
Excellent. These Minors are truly sturdy, capable and reliable cars - IF they are properly road sorted and maintained. The biggest barrier to good Minors being used is the nervousness of the owners to use them for the purpose for which they were built. The Austin Seven fraternity has, in general, a ...

Re: Spring pub meet, The Old Bull, Inkberrow, Sunday 30th April
I think I've finally got it right - Sunday 30th APRIL!
That sounds like an amazing adventure - definitely fodder for the Magazine! But of course our sturdy little Minors are more than up to the task!

Re: Summer Rally and Pre-War Prescott 2023
Morris Minors at Pre-War Prescott As I’m sure everyone is aware, Pre-War Prescott is hosted by the Register, and forms but one of the three days of the Register’s annual Summer Rally. As such I always try to encourage as many Minor owners as possible to come along to one or more of the three days wi...

http://www.vintageminor.co.uk/Forumpix/Hurricane and Spitfire.JPG Fantastic news this morning from the BBMF. We've been provisionally allocated a Spitfire AND a Hurricane, to display together at 14:25 in the afternoon. To have not one but two BBMF fighters over Prescott is a tremendous first for PW...

Re: NV 2803 - 1933 McEvoy Special
With the coming of the warmer weather, I've had a chance to pick up on the restoration. Right now I am concentrating on the engine. This has been stored, dismantled for decades so there's plenty of cleaning and removal of surface rust to get through. I'm having the cylinder bores measured so I can o...

And M 184 was sent to the printers yesterday and I've just approved the proof, so our Spring issue should be on the way to everyone in a few days.

Ian Judd's M Type accident
I just received the following from Ian: “I don’t think my M will get to Prescott. We were ‘T Boned’ (I think that’s the expression) by a speeder last September and are still recovering. I expect Judith and I would make it, but the car is pretty battered and needs a lot of work. It was life and death...
