Re: Gear Noise

Did anyone ever try and put feelers out to see how many people were interested in new gear sets?

Re: smiths shock absorbers

Does anyone know what the lining material is for these as mine have been lined with a very hard brake lining material and therefore dont damp too well. Wondered if you could get replacement linings from somewhere??

Re: Dynamo Info

Well when I placed my Dynamo in for a "Full Rebuild" that is what I expect not simply repainting the body and spraying the inside with red oxide primer!!! Im not sure how I could have misinterpreted that if I am honest.

Re: Transmission Handbrake

I don't think mine looks like that but I will have a look tonight. With mine the shoes can move fore and aft on the studs and so rattle around. What keeps these in the correct place?? Is this the steel pull off spring? I don't remember seeing one of those. I will check tonight and get back to you.

Re: fabric couplings

So I guess everyone is now getting them from Sports and Vintage? As this post was a year ago I doubt the price will be around the £50 mark now. Looks like I might be leaving them alone for a while.

Transmission Handbrake

Hi all, Does someone have a breakdown of how the transmission handbrake is put together or even a close up picture of one on a car. Mine is in place but seems to have a horrendous amount of play in it so the brake shoes dance around when the brake is off and makes a hell of a racket. When you pull t...

Re: Fan bearing

I am still having problems with this fan bearing, I managed to source a new one of the same size but the fan still dances all over the place so I think I am going to have to replace it with a bush of some sort.

fabric couplings

Does anyone have any fabric couplings they would like to sell, the one on the front of my cammy is starting to break up and could do with replacing and I heard you should really replace them in pairs. I also need some new nuts and bolts to secure them as the ones I have in are very poor and tired, a...

Re: Cam Gear/ cam shaft : Needed for OHC minor

Most people replace the cam with a 12/12 cam, you can get them from Sports and Vintage along with the cam gears. Rockers are a different matter, if yours are damaged like mine were you can either build them up and have them re-profiled or replace them with J types ones.

Re: Ignition timing

Hmmm well I have my minor is now set at 1 1/4" BTDC retarded with the Bosch distributor on and it runs really well with lots of torque and a good power output. I was recommended this by a guy who rebuilds M types (Andy King) and it seems to work.
