Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
The forum front page picture of military vehicles reminds me that just after the Norfolk rally we joined an event in Kettering "Wicksteed at War" which had military vehicles and battle recreations. This was a much more pleasant day than the previous one spent at Barnesdale Gardens (known a...

One of the less pretty snaps - it was not all sunshine.

Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
Well the PWMN Rally has now been compekted an it was a wonderful weekend of Minoring fun. UF7090 behaved wonderfully, starting with the trip from Northampton to Norfolk in the company of Roger Burnett and his MG Sportsman Coupe. We stopped at the Harringworth Viaduct for Roger who had seen the pictu...

Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
But Trevor that would retard the ignition if a larger gap advances, then a smaller one would retard. Still a mystery, but the explanation will be identified perhaps at some time. I'll recheck the distributor gap again on each cam and see if there is perhaps some wear that causes the distributor to '...

Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
Thanks Trevor, that will explain it, but how sensitive is it? After I had cleaned the points (and removed a central blip) I guess that gap was a bit bigger, although still around 15th. Incidentally in the 1930 handbook for the OHC the gap is stated as 20thou, but in the 1931 handbook for the SV it i...

Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
Started the car on Wednesday and it kicked back even when fully retarded, so something wrong. Yesterday I cleaned plugs and points and today I fitted a new coil I happened to have and reset the timing with a strobe. It was indeed advanced by 5-10 degrees, but how that happened I do not know. Can tim...

Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
Our 'Around the Edge' trip ws completed last week with 500 miles covered and only one very small issue about 20 miles from home. The condenser earth failed with a drastic loss of power. We limped to a near lay-by thinking how sad it would be to arrive home on a tow truck. When I investigated in a ra...

UF7090 Completes drive "Around the Edge"
We have just completed our charity drive in UF 7090 from Gloucester to Minehead as part of the charity drive to collect funds for Macmillan and (for me) also Cecily's Fund, a charity that provides education to AIDS orphans in Zambia. The car has behaved extremely well following the repair of the maj...

Re: Drive It Day, Sunday 26th April
The Stilton Run turned into rather a non event for me. We arrived early in Uppingham and met with a contingent of Leicestershire MR friends. We set off for Stilton, but my oil leak had reappeared so we left the run after lunch at Bulwick and enjoyed the best part of the day in glorious sun driving b...

Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
UF7090 is now all put back together with new wheel centres, new fan bearing, repaired radiator and reshaped gear lever. It is also fettled (tappets and clutch adjusted, greased all round etc) and polished within an inch of its life in preparation for Drive it Day and the "Around the Edge" ...

Re: Original Morris Motors body drawings found!
Hi Ian, I have just rediscovered this thread.
Have I missed the announcement of the drawings becoming available?
I would still like to see the appropriate drawing please if it is around.

Re: Summer Rally and Pre-War Prescott 2015
Hi Ian, more bad news I'm afraid - depending on your point of view anyway. I am sorry to say that we have a big calendar clash and will not be able to make Vintage Prescott this year. Such a pity as we did enjoy last year's event notwithstanding the awful weather. So I hope that it is a great succes...

Re: Drive It Day, Sunday 26th April
We will be joining the "Stilton Run" from Uppngham to Stilton. From home that will be a 100 mile round trip. Should be entertaining with a good collection of historic vehicles and a good test run for our "Around the Edge" exploits in May. Details of this can be seen at: http://uk...
