M Type Madness

I have just seen another very nice M Type for sale on the carandclassic website for 29500 Euros or about £23.5K. Last year a good M could be found and purchased for £11-£14K. Located in France and with a good provenance it is the second such car to be advertised at a similar figure in the last 10 da...

Re: Rally Roll Call 2008

Just to close this thread down I thought I would post an image that tipified what the weekend was about for me. Here's to next year!

Re: VG3815

Hi Peter, I can recollect Ian writing about this, either here on the Forum or in the club's magazine. It appears that (if memory serves) the last of the Fabric Saloons had this bonnet finish as of course did all of the Semi-Sports. Again, from memory, the register is now aware of three such examples...

Re: VG3815

That is a very late chassis number which must make your car either the youngest or one of the youngest surviving Fabric Saloons. We know that Morris produced the later side valve car in a Fabric Saloon version but as yet no survivors have surfaced - so potentially a historic vehicle.

Re: Autumn pub meets

Provisional date for the Royal Oak, Barrington Pub Meet is Sunday 5th October and a further Suffolk meet is planned for Sunday 12th at the Four Horseshoes in Thornham Magna. We are hoping to get Geoff Thornton along to Barrington and of course any new attendees will be made welcome at both venues. F...

Re: VG3815

Hi Peter, Good to see you have taken the plunge and joined the forum - welcome! Your car looks ripe for some work but these cars repay the effort expended upon them by providing (mainly) lots of smiles per hour. I look forward to keeping up with the renovation through your 'posts' here. I wonder how...

Re: Repairing gearwheels?

Toby, My saloon was still tightish after 1200 hundred or so miles following its engine rebuild. In the Semi-Sports I used modern oils (as mentioned in my earlier post) instead of the single grade used in the saloon and it seemed to free up much earlier. I am sure the oil we use plays a huge part in ...

Re: Repairing gearwheels?

Hi Toby, Don't be hasty! Give your engine a chance to run in properly. The Semi-sports has now done 1500 odd miles and is a totally different engine to that which pulled me around Dorset last year. It is a revelation and did pull 56mph on the flat two up a few night ago (sat nav verified!). A change...

MG M Type for Sale in Nederlands

There is an M for sale on the carandclassic web site for 25000 euros - in the region of £20000! I wonder if he will get what he wants for it, but it does mean that our cars are all worth considerably more in bits than as a complete car. Take one of our cars to bits, get an M Body - these are availab...

1932 Minor Saloon Body on eBay

A complete Minor Saloon body is up for auction on eBay. Ends 5th August. Start is at £99 with no bids yet. The acquisition of this could 'kick start' someones restoration - hardly expensive. Vendor also has many other sde valve Minor parts apparently. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1932-MORRIS-MINOR-2-DOOR-S...

Re: OU 6930

I have no idea if this will work, but I have tried to include a Photobucket link to a short piece of video that was shot at the summer rally. The car is my saloon but driven by Ken Martin. It is seen arriving at the museum early on Saturday morning. http://s265.photobucket.com/albums/ii219/big_minor...

Re: Advice for a newbie

Welcome to the Forum Vonjono! Blimey - tough first question! Firstly crunching the gears invariably happens within earshot of interested passers by - apparently it's connected with Sod and his law! I have also found that practice doesn't make perfect in this case. Changing down with cold oil in the ...
