Re: A gearbox rebuild

It's no "old wives' tale" that the splines can be so worn that they prevent de-clutching. The splines on our '34 two seater (4 speed with synchromesh on at least 3rd and 4th - not sure about 2nd) is visibly much more worn that yours. It didn't really cause problems until we change the clut...

Re: Were all Minors 6 volt?

Two more "Were all Minors ?": 1. Were all Minors RHD? Here in Denmark we are LHD, and although we have quite a few PreWar Minors, I have never seen a LHD. 2. Were all Minors with the Accelerator in the middle? I have actually seen one (a '34 2 seater) with todays pedal arrangement, but I'm...

Re: Distributor Evolution Questions

I don't think later SV minors were factory fitted with automatic advance distributors. At least our '34 SV Minor (i.e. last production year) still has manual advance.

Re: Running board rubbers

Hi Ian, I'm also interrested in a pair. I'm only a little worried if your mould is wide enough for our '34 SV 2 Seater. Our running boards are approximately 31cm (12 1/4") wide where they meet the front wing, and 95cm (37 ½") long. What's the measurements of your mould? The finish of the m...

Re: Your Minor a little too small?

Well there are other things that are too small, like my garage and wallet, so I guess the Minor has to do  .

Re: Clutch plate

We judged the splines usable although not too good, so if I can find new then we'll definitely go for that. New springs also sounds like a good idea.

There is always help at hand in this forum! Thanks Ian and Highlander for reply and advice.

Re: Clutch plate

Yes it was the plate itself I was after. New linings will be good too, but my current plate is cracked from center and out on one side, so its the critical part.
Does anyone know the difference (if any) between the clutch plate on SV and OHC Minors?

Clutch plate

The clutch plate on our '34 SV Minor is cracked, so I need to find a replacement. In Harry Edward's Morris Minor Information Manual the same drawing (on page 74) applies to all SV and OHC models, but the parts numbers are listed as different: 37932 for SV and 37041 for OHC. Sports&Vintage Motors...

I'm not surprised that SpamBots are signing on to the site - but I'm a bit surprised that they haven't spammed the forum with Viagra offers etc. once they were in. Maybe Ian never let them come so far?

Engine rebore

We are planning an overhaul of the engine of our 1934 SV 2-seater as the compression was quite poor, and it was being seriously outpaced by our Austin Seven (1936 Ruby Mk1), and as we all know that is not how it was supposed to be :( (the Austin engine had an overhaul a couple of years ago). I would...

Re: 9/44 CWPs anyone?

I need a 8/43 CW&P for a 1934 SV Minor - anyone has a spare in good condition to sell? Morris Eigth also uses 8/43, but in Harry Edwards Information Manaul they have a different part no. for Eigth and Minor, so I suppose they are not 100% identical - anyone knows if they are interchangable? If o...

A little delayed but here comes a few pics of the Minor. On the pics she has modern style number plates, but just the other day we got historically correct number plates (same style as you see on the Austin 7 above), so now shes affectionately known as A9542. In Denmark we have an arrangement so tha...

Hi I'm Flemming Hansen, and at #55 I'm the latest member of the forum. I'm 41 years old and live in Denmark, and I have half an Austin Seven Ruby and half a 2 seater 1934 Morris Minor. Luckily both cars are complete I just co-own them with my dad! The Ruby we aquired in 2001 and spent until late 200...
