Re: What's wrong with this picture

Ian/Halbe Car over the road looks to be a 3 Litre Bentley! I'm afraid I'd much rather be driving that on a VSCC event than polishing Teds sidevale Minor! Still each to his own! Ted's Minor would be 'no good at all' on the Welsh Trial believe me! I've tried a standard Minor on this event, and its bey...

Re: The Early Morris Society

I went over to see Mark and this Minor in Dec 03 and had a drive round Witney in UO 9795. Mark bought it from a dealer who had it for sale at the BEAULIEU Autojumble. If it had been a bit more original I might have bought it! It went quite well, but the heavy very crude Plywood body slowed it down s...

Re: MG M Type SC 6436

It has often been said that a smaller diameter choke imroves low down torque and 'lugging' ability on vintage engines. As Minors were more often than not 'lugging' along in hilly country possibly carrying 4 adults and some luggage, perhaps the increase in torque was felt more valuable than the odd s...

Re: MG M Type SC 6436

Ken So early Minors had the edge on performance then? I have seen this early type Carb on one of Brian Maers Minors, I wonder if it was fitted to other cars in the 1928 era? SU dropped it pretty quickly for the later type side float 7/8" so I presume the float chamber was a weak point. All thes...

Re: MG M Type SC 6436

I believe the size of an SU carb is measured at the intake diameter. The increases in diameter at the butterfly end is to take into account the recuction in volume caused by the spindle and the butterly and the two screw heads. In theory the maximum possible speed and volume of gas on full throttle ...

Re: Minors in competition

Sports Austin 7s tend to attract pretty young ladies - note the lovely Katey in car No 10. I'm afraid she overdid things at Pardon on that day and inverted the Ulster. Happily she was not injured and sprinted round to the Kill switches after wriggling out of tiny gap available in the upturned Austin...

Re: MG M Type SC 6436

Ian Sounds like John was a 'little economical with the truth' about this car with the (then) editor of the Automobile, Malcomb Jeal. The Car was proudly displayed on the cover of the Dec 1983 Edition! I hope someones having fun with it to-day as the end result was a smashing looking little sports ca...

MG M Type SC 6436

I note from the M type register that this M type is a (minor chassised) Clone! Facinating, as it was owned by the late John Peckam, the guy who finished the restoration and was a long time owner of my car! In a back-to-back test with my car for The Autobile in 1983 they proudly stated that the M typ...

What about the over-restored example's of the two ladies at madame Tussaud's :P Anyway let stick to the topic, we're wandering off  Halbe but Halbe, wandering off is such fun! A commodity that this world is sadly lacking!  To get back onto Topic........ One make car clubs are fam...

Re: Over restoration?

Best you sell the Minor and buy a white Sunbeam Talbot Alpine, Halbe or are you now calling yourself Cary Grant?

Grace Kelly would not want to be seen in a Minor Saloon!  But I heard she had a soft spot for a little Brown Tourer!
