Re: Hartford dampers

Hello John, I'm quite happy with your observations. They support my ideas. I restricted the precision of my calculations to 1/2 inch because the present Hartfords are not available in 1/4 inch sizes as far as I know. Thank you for your help. Jeroen PS. Re: Hartford dampers

Hello Ian,
Your reply helped me to make the decision: Yes, I'll order the Hartfords now. I needed just that little push in my back. After all it is an investment of about 400GBP. Thank you for the interest you showed.

Re: Hartford dampers

Recently I inquired in this forum which arm length I should choose when ordering Hartford shockabsorbers for my Morris Minor SV. I received no definite answer so I posed the same question to the dealer: "Holden, Vintage and Classic Motoring website" from whom I received no answer at all. I...

Hartford dampers

I am considering to fit new Hartford shock absorbers under my Minor SV roadster 1933. The 502 series with one blade into two blades is recommended for light cars like this. But what about the length of the blades? The front springs are much shorter and stiffer than the rear springs therefore it seem...

Re: Odds and ends spare

Hello Ian, I might be interested in your Hartfords but I have a few questions: 1.Are they still available? 2.I know the 502M is designed for heavier cars than the Minor, but would they fit on the Minor chassis? 3.Do you include the mounting bolts? 4.Can you say something about their condition? 5.Wha...

Re: King pins, brake pulley gear and cables

Hello Ian,
You ask for more customers for the brake revision set. I replied to your offer but I can't find my reply here in the forum, did you count me in? I still want them.
By the way, I strongly prefer pulleys machined from bronze over Zinc-Aluminium alloy casts.
Best regards,
Jeroen

Re: Some new parts being made

Hello Ian, O.K. I wont bother you any longer about a battery box for my Minor. I will turn to John Nagle, he will be my next victim. However, I also signed for a set of brake parts (cables, pulleys etc. for Morris Minor SV) which you hoped to produce this summer. Will they be on scedule? Please don't...

Re: Some new parts being made

Hello Ian,
Please sign me in for a battery box. Should my reaction be too late because you have already placed the order then please mail me a copy of the drawing. Thank you in advance, Jeroen

Re: Battery Box

Dear Ian, Just a mere glance at the crumbling remnants of what once must have been the batterybox in my Minor fills me with an ovewhelming sadness rendering me unfit for any constructive -let alone restorative- activity. These gloomy remnants have lost all similarity with the daytime image we have o...

Re gearbox codes

Hello Ian, My gearbox is stamped 77 44 over 74 in front of the turret and 3 over 12 behind the turret. It is a four speed box, not synchronized. I believe without being able to prove it that this gearbox was assembled with my present engine (engine nr. 30261A) in 1932 in Cowley on chassis nr. SV 298...

Re: subscription by check

Hi Ian, Yes this helps a lot. I would prefer to transfer directly from my account to yours without an intermediate like PayPal. In that case I shall have to know the Bank Identifier Code (BIC) of your bank and the International Bank Account Number (IBAN) of your account. Will you mail those to me pl...

subscription by check

I’ve been a VMR member now for nearly a year and coming November I shall prolong my membership by paying 20GBP to VMR, probably by sending a check because there does not seem to be an alternative way of paying. Last year I paid 23 Euro for 20 GBP but my bank charged me 21 Euro on top of that for tra...

The annual membership contribution

To become a VMR member in The Netherlands I paid the annual fee of 20 GBP by cheque. My bank charged me € 23.89 for the twenty pounds and added € 21.17 overcharge. The overcharge was so high because payment by cheque is obsolete in the Euro countries. Of course I could have saved about € 20.-by just...
