Re: door fittings
My SV folding head saloon has the self-aligning ball and spring hinges. I suspect they are original as nobody worried about putting authentic parts on in previous rebuilds, so had they been lost I would expect the easiest/cheapest replacements.. Correct - the '31 season OHC Minors had hinges with ba...

Re: Oil Pipe Diameter
On my sidevalve it isa an external feed. dimensions are: 0.385", 9.6 mm external. It is difficult to say what the internal is because the end gets distorted when tightened up but is close enough to 7mm or 0.28".
I therefore assume it is nominal either 3/8" or 10mm external.

Bearings
Having wrecked my CWP and rebuilt the diff, I decided to replace the wheel bearings while I am at it. I have sourced them at 7.75 GBP each, plus VAT and carriage for 2 off! I suspect they won't give much discount for small quantities, say up to 50 items, The supplier is one of the old companies who ...

Re: 4.00x19 tyres offer
Hi Glenn They're yours if you can collect them in a reasonable time - I'm in Sussex and I see your profile says you're in Zummerzet. I tried sending a pm but it ended up in the outbox, not the sent messages, so not sure if you got it. If you don't want them, let me know so that they can be re-offere...

4.00x19 tyres offer
I have just replaced the tyres on my car. The old ones are 4.00x19 Avons bought new in 2000. Never been overloaded as they are oversize for the car. They have 2.5 to 4mm of tread all round and across. There are no cuts but the walls have light cracks. They passed the MOT in this condition in April/M...

Re: Repairing gearwheels?
Hi Sam Thanks for that info. I will email Garry. I looked in the Morris Register information manual, and as you say, the 9/44 was in the 1929-31 OHC. It quotes 8/43 for the SVs and other combinations appear to have been used, ie 6/33 7/37 9/43 & 8/39, while for the 1932 coupe and Family Eight 8/...

Diff wanted for 1931 sv saloon
As you mightg have seen on the technical section, my diff is somewhat ropey. Having been advised that the pinion is irreparable, I am looking for a crown wheel and pinion. The current pinion has 9 spiral cut teeth so I assume it is one of the 9/44s I have read about on here. I am in the process of r...

Re: Repairing gearwheels?
Right, I went to a tame welder who does work for the museum I volunteer at and he sucked in a sharp intake of breath and said he would rather not try because if it breaks again the weld would destroy more than the original tooth had done.
So it looks like I am on the lookout for a9/44 Diff

Repairing gearwheels?
Hi All. It's good to see the VMR thriving, although I am not a full member. (maybe that should be 'because I'm not' so I am not dragging the group down :? } I have a 1931 SV saloon and one of the teeth on the pinion is chipped resulting in a very noisy slow ride. I can't see any damage to the crown ...
