Re: Morris guarantee
This row of once prestigious properties overlooking the sea is South Cliff, Roker Terrace, Sunderland. Sadly none of the numbered houses would appear to carry the name 'Andover' as some are now in commercial / multi-occupancy use and two properties at the southern end are post war infill possibly du...

You could of course have your spare wheel rebuilt with new spokes. Here's a selection of businesses offering a wire wheel rebuilding service. Nick Mouat Specialist Wheel Builder, Salisbury - https://www.nickmouatspecialistwheelbuilder.co.uk Richards Brothers, Cardiff - http://www.richards-bros.com S...

Re: Semi Sports Body.
Tony, Very impressive indeed. A couple of questions if I may, firstly did you use a local North Yorkshire supplier for your ash and secondly what type / size of bandsaw are you using to cut the sections, presumably not the small Clarke in the background. Oh and thirdly did you steam bend the wheel a...

Re: Hydraulic Brakes
The Morris Motors parts book illustrations for both the late hydraulic braked Minor and Pre-Series, Series I / II Eight pushrod assembly look identical, although the part numbers differ - Minor 37852, Eight 38185. The Series E are similarly almost identical though slightly shorter I believe - part n...

Re: Prop couplings
I'd agree entirely with David's comments. New fabric discs in various sizes are available from S.E.S. - http://www.sesparts.freeuk.com/
Not sure of their current price as my Eight has Hardy Spicer U/J's.

Re: Prop couplings
Ian, the ad suggests these are for 1934 10 / 12 hp cars and therefore larger diameter discs, Morris part number for the 10/4 was I believe 50486. The Minor and early Eights were the same, Morris part number 3411 - outer diameter 140mm, centre diameter 50mm. The vendor could check these sizes should ...

Re: Rear Axle.
Hi Alister, I'm not an engineer by profession, only a self taught (over 35 years Morris 8 ownership) amateur, however I wouldn't be entirely happy running the car re what I think you've done with the rear brake drums. Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that you've tightened the three c...

Re: Hundred Pound ash frames
This 10/4's located just down the road from me. It last appeared at a local farm auction, three, possibly four years ago in the same condition as you see it now, fetching £310 on the day - it was presumably bought by the vendor's son. I believe the guy selling it is into Ford Model A's in a big way....

Hi Alister, Jeff Taylor here, Morris Register - Eight MVS Forum, I answered a couple of your posts the other week re your Eight diff unit. Re your hubs, I fear the previous owner, possibly in an attempt to fit a modern oil seal in place of the felt - is what you describe as a 'plastic washer' actual...

Re: Pistons.
Highlander,
Your Hepolite 11580 pistons are for 918cc Morris 8 hp Series E 1939 to 1952 which includes the early 1948 to 52 sidevalve Morris MM Minor - the Alec Issigonis designed car.

Re: WANTED. Starter pinion or pinion & sleeve.
Toby, Tony,
I think you'll find that the Eight (late 34 to 38) Pinion & Sleeve is Lucas Part Number 250116, 10 teeth and Left Hand rather than right. Series E Eight's (M35G starter) were 250415, 9 teeth, LH.

Re: Bearings
The following may be of interest: As far back as the 1970's, the Morris Register spares catalogue was listing R&M LJ40 (S.K.F. 6208) as the rear hub bearing for all Minors OHC & SV 1929 to 34, Series E Eight's, 10/4 Series II, III & M, 12/4 Series II & III and 14/6 Series II & II...

Re: Prop shafts
Hi Halbe, In the UK and presumably in Holland there are companies in a number of major cities that will manufacture new Hardy Spicer U/J prop shafts complete with sliding joint to your specification - all I believe they need is the precise distance between the flange faces of the gearbox and differe...
