Re: OHC Minor fuel taps - how to stop leaking

Over the 10,000 miles since December 2020 I've only had two issues with the SU pump, both issues were caused by vapour lock, both times were quickly fixed by removing the outlet pipe to reduce the pressure it needed to remedy the problem itself. As an aside, a good 6,000+ of those miles has been on ...

Re: Autumn pub meet, the Old Bull, Inkberrow Sunday 21st October

Just about to leave the house and take the long way there. It'll make up for not going to the Welsh Trial last weekend or the Morris Register meeting near Monmouth yesterday.

Looking good. Have you had the original springs reconditioned or fully replaced with brand new sets?

Re: Spring pub meet, The Old Bull, Inkberrow, Sunday 30th April

Hi Ian, I noticed you mentioned I had just returned from the Highlands in the May Newsletter, but I haven't done the trip yet. If I can't make it happen in the next few weeks then it'll have to be postponed to September. The car was good to go but I had to cancel the trip with less than an hour to d...

Re: Spring pub meet, The Old Bull, Inkberrow, Sunday 30th April

I'm looking forward to seeing you with the Minor. Have you been putting some miles on it today? It's the perfect day for hood down pootling in a 92-year-old wooden box on wheels. I used mine yesterday to meet up with a friend for lunch. We met at the Navigation Inn, on the Worcestershire & Staff...

Re: Spring pub meet, The Old Bull, Inkberrow, Sunday 30th April

Think the inspiration came from last year's Austin Seven 'John O'Groats to Land's End Centenary Run'. I thought if they can do it then I can easily drive as far as the Highlands and back. 30mpg is a bit of a hard pill to swallow though. My 2CV manages 42mpg, while my 1.4TSI (petrol) Golf does 55mpg!

Re: Spring pub meet, The Old Bull, Inkberrow, Sunday 30th April

I certainly wouldn't have contemplated such a journey three or four years ago. It's only really in the last year that I've built up a relationship of trust in the little car, which will be seeing its 91st anniversary of passing down the Cowley production line this coming Tuesday, 11th April. It stil...

Re: Spring pub meet, The Old Bull, Inkberrow, Sunday 30th April

Oh 'eck! I've just had a major service which included sump off, manifold off, tappets adjusted, full oils and greasing, retighten every single nut/bolt on the chassis and suspension, brakes and clutch adjusted, and four brand new Blockley 3.50x19s fitted, in anticipation of pointing the nose of the ...

Re: New Year's Day pub meets

It was clearly a mistake to have a NYD meeting at Inkberrow. It was sadly poorly attended. Only 8 pre-war/vintage cars and 2 post-war/modern cars. I'll return to Pembridge or maybe Much Marcle next year. From what I can see online most who usually turn up at The Old Bull had gone to the Much Marcle ...

Re: New Year's Day pub meets

Weather forecast is currently looking good for Sunday. Had to fix a seeping joint on the SU pump yesterday afternoon, so fingers crossed it's sorted and I'll be at The Old Bull, Inkberrow, in the Minor.

Re: Christmas virtual pub meet

Ahh, but both me and my car are older than you and your car were in 1978. I wouldn't have given it a second thought 20 years ago. Also... there are FAR MORE vehicles on the roads today, mostly SUVs driven by idiots who'll just not see me in the poor light of winter.
